TPPL & TOPL observed “World Safety Day 2014” on 28th April at all locations with full enthusiasm and spirit. Key highlight of the event was the involvement of all staff, contractors, transporters, drivers and forecourt staff all across Pakistan.
Many activities were planned based on the theme of the day “Speak up for Safety – Reporting Anomalies & Best Practices”. The corporate offices and operational facilities took the campaign to the remotest of locations to reach out all employees. A gamut of activities was implemented all across Pakistan at TPPL & TOPL location.
TPPL has launched “Safety leader program”at Retail stations where each site will have dedicated HSE focal point who will closely work with TPPL HSEQ dept for implementation of policies and procedures at site and facilitate in conducting drills/trainings and reporting Near misses & accidents. The objective is to Improve Safety standards at Retail Stations through active participation & involvement of our business partners (Dealers) and help TPPL to reduce the risk as low as reasonably practicable.
There is an incentive program for safety leaders based and objectives are defined and communicated to them. Each objective has some score and based on the overall score, best safety leader of the region will be nominated on quarterly basis.
Training provided to Safety leaders all across Pakistan and it is still in process. 7 sessions were conducted and Total 107 sites have been covered so far where this program is implemented and target is complete this project by end Dec 2013.
Continuously raising HSEQ standards is a top most priority at TPPL. In light of this, TPPL has recently achieved another milestone and achieved ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management System) certification after ISSSRS level 4 rating.
This ambitious project was kicked off in November 2011 and completed within 8 months. ISO 14001 standards is an excellent business tool to ensure that organization has effective measures in place to prevent pollution and reduce environmental impact. It also positions TPPL as the preferred choice for companies that source products/ services from ISO 14001 certified suppliers only.
Furthermore a year after certification TPPL has successfully complied with the surveillance audit (2 Man days) conducted by Buerau VERITAS and no major non-conformance reported in the audit.
International Small Site Safety Rating System (ISSSRS) is safety management system designed by DNV in collaboration with TOTAL at the group level. It was implemented at MCH depot in 2011 and achieved level 4 rating which is the highest one. TPPL once again sustained the same level during recent ISSRS audit conducted by a special team from Singapore in August 2013.
